About Us - Top Image

Color Space was born from a simple truth: the world needs to see South Africa as South Africans see it.

Global stock photo libraries often fail to capture the everyday lives, cultures, and textures of Black South Africans. Brands and agencies seeking authentic visuals have long been compelled to use generic imagery that fails to resonate with local audiences. We set out to change that.

Our Mission

To redefine African visual storytelling—making it easy for brands and agencies to access real, resonant images while creating income opportunities for local photographers and creators.

What We Do

1. Authentic Stock Photography
Our growing stock photo library showcases the real South African experience, shot by everyday creators using cameras and smartphones.
These images are rights-cleared and ready for brands, agencies, and publishers who need visuals that truly connect.

2. Bespoke Image Libraries for Brands & Agencies
For campaigns that need something unique, we build custom image libraries. From concept to production, we create on-brand collections that reflect a client’s
audience and values—rooted in cultural accuracy.

3. Creator Community & #21DayPhotoChallengeSA
In 2021, during the COVID-19 lockdown, we launched the #21DayPhotoChallengeSA to keep creativity alive. It sparked a nationwide movement and has grown into a vibrant
network of more than 5,000 photographers and smartphone creators who continue to share, learn, and earn. Through this community, creators gain recognition and
passive income for their craft.

Our Impact

• 5,000+ active contributors across South Africa.
• Thousands of images sold to brands and agencies.
• A platform where creativity meets opportunity, giving photographers a sustainable way to be recognised and remunerated.

Our Vision

To build Africa’s largest, most authentic visual content ecosystem—where brands find the images that move people, and local photographers turn their talent into lasting
income.
